Rory Root was the classic Comic Book Store Owner. Urban Legend has it that he is the basis for the Simpsons Character. He owned Comic Relief in Berkeley, and ran it the way only an obsessive nerd could run it.
Rory loved "discovering" new talent. He gave a lot of zine & minicomic artists a retail venue, and hired employees who loved and understood the underground and subculture.
I'm hereby requesting that no one I know die until June. I would prefer a full 30 days.

At least in my interactions with him. I'd travel all the way over to Berkeley just to buy comics there.
I have a hard time believing that he's the basis for the Simpson's character though. If you told me Al - that I would believe.
